Eureka Recycling is proud to partner with the Living Green Expo to create the largest Zero-Waste event in the state! At the 2011 Living Green Expo 22,000 attendees and 300 businesses gathered and were inspired to take action to live healthier and more sustainable lives- while generating almost no waste!
There were 1,272 pounds of materials composted while 2,125 pounds were recycled. On average, less than one-fifth of a pound of trash was generated by each of the 22,000 attendees, and 93% of all discards generated at the event were prevented from being wasted. Instead these resources were turned into nutrient-rich soil or recycled into new products.
Check back soon for our results in 2012!

At zero-waste events, people are exposed to the possibility of a world without waste in a tangible and memorable way.
Zero-waste events require more than putting out containers for recycling and composting. Eureka Recycling works with event organizers to rethink all the materials that will be at the event—from signage to food to the packaging that things come in—to dramatically reduce the amount of overall disposable materials used.

Eureka Recycling is always looking for volunteers to educate people about zero waste at events. To volunteer or for internship opportunities, contact Eureka Recycling.
