| The Bike Rodeo at the Living Green Expo had fun for all ages! Riders tested skills in our Drive Your Bike Course, with free bike safety checks provided on-site.
Families learned to ride in groups in our Family Fairgrounds Tour and found fun and easy ways to incorporate biking into the daily routine in our Quick Trips Workshop.

Here’s a rundown of sessions that were offered: Bike Experience Tent: 10 minutes Kids Activities (3 & up)/ Wheel of Wonder game show
Kids of all ages welcome! Watch out for the Wheel of Wonder Quiz Show, learn the powers of helmets, and do fun activities. Flat Fix Thereʼs no need to fear flat tires! Hereʼs the proof: we can do it and teach you the steps in about ten minutes. ABC Quick Check Seconds. Thatʼs how long it takes to make sure your bike is safe and ready to roll for spring. Weʼll show you how easy it is to have a happy bike. Drive your Bike: Family Bicycle Skills Course & Rodeo 10-15 minutes Kids Skills Rodeo
Fun & Easy activities that teach kids to ʻDrive their bike.” Learn starting, stopping, scanning, signaling, turning, yielding, and crosswalk basics. Adults Handling Basics Havenʼt been on a bike in a while? Want to brush up on some basic skills in a safe environment? This session is for you! Weʼll demonstrate and practice efficient starts, stops, turns, shifts, and more. For the more advanced riders, the optional Quick Stop and Rock Dodge will hone your handling techniques. Nice Ride Family Slow Race We know youʼre fast, but youʼll be surprised just how hard it is to be slow. Kids vs. parents encouraged! Rides
Family Fairgrounds Tour (on bike): 30 minutes
This fun short ride will teach the basics of riding on the street in a safe, exciting environment- the state fairgrounds! Get a tour of your favorite fair spots by bike while learning the rules of the road. Kids will learn to “Drive their Bike” and parents will get tips on safe riding instruction. Riding with Traffic (on bike): Thereʼs no better way to learn how to ride in traffic than to do it! This short course ride will review the principles of traffic law as well as teach proper lane positioning, avoiding the door zone, multi-lane turns, and more. Our “All Ages” Riding with Traffic Class will teach similar principles but on calmer, less traveled streets. Workshop sessions: 30 minutes plus Q&A
ABC Quick Check/ Flat Fix (demo):
It’s finally spring and time to pull the bike out of the garage. Learn the fast (under 1-minute), easy way to check over your bike so it’s safe to ride, every time. And, nobody likes a flat. Learn just how quick and simple it is to fix flats and how to avoid them. Quick Trips: Your Day on Two Wheels Ride to the grocery? Sure. Ride to the library? Great. Ride to get ice cream? Yes! Learn how to save time by making your physical activity part of your normal day. Tips on clothing, gear, routes, staying safe and riding with kids. Itʼs fun on two wheels! NOTE:
Space is limited, and will be on a first-‐come, first-‐served basis per session. On-bike sessions require a helmet and signed waiver. Participants are encouraged provide their own bikes. FREE bike & helmet safety checks will be provided. A limited number of bikes will be provided by Nice Ride Minnesota and MN bike shop(s). |
